Everybody seems to have an opinion about the Tiger Woods scandal…even the Stock Market fell into a lull for 13 minutes as Tiger made his first public appearance and apology in 3 months. For me, the main interest was the psychology of why people behave contrary to their belief systems and the inherent right to learn from their mistakes and get a second chance


The more I thought about this human drama, the more I was struck by certain similarities.


1. The GAME and BUSINESS MODEL


The game of golf remains constant and true to its principles. It continues to exist within the spectrum of personal victories and failures of golfers. There will always be golfers striving for recognition and beating their personal best within rules and protocol.


The MLM industry model…its main concepts and functions will continue into the future within the range of millionaire, poor, new or veteran networkers who strive to make it work as well as they hope to. If goals do not work out as planned, we, as entrepreneurs, have the right to change the rules to better meet changing times.



2. THE MESSAGE
 One sincere explanation will be believed or not believed. His apology for his behavior will be received and dissected in as many diverse ways as possible by people with as many diverse viewpoints, including those who may not even play the game or have working knowledge. Those with secondary agendas will step from the shadows and try to capitalize from his fame and fortune.


It happens when trying to explain the Network Marketing Business Model. Some will take a pitch...some will cry foul and some will hit amazing home runs! Some people have no experience, or a bad experience or base their understanding on hearsay. Entitlement or entrenchment is not the channel to make judgments and decisions. The saddest excuses for the greatest home business

It is enough to break one’s heart when in a time of huge economic changes, including potential prosperity, one reads about excuses and failure rates.

I view the important world of change as an educator. It really doesn’t matter what the subject matter or learning objectives are. You start with the basic premise here is what I know and here is what I want to know. Next, you plug into lesson plans and resources to learn more, to become educated because, in my slightly biased opinion, there is nothing worse, than a narrow mind with tunnel vision trying to cope with status quo permanence in an atmosphere of perennial changes.
Now the education process may involve points of failure along the way but they are the stimuli to relearn, adapt , try something different, reformulate, rehearse..do whatever it takes to gain mastery of the subject matter.

And our school system allows 50% for a passing grade.

So, it breaks my heart, but not my spirit, to see such unacceptable failure rates in the network marketing home business…and it has to stop, along with the common excuses. You may read varying statistics; but, it is estimated as many as 90% of all network marketers ultimately fail, a huge percentage quitting in their first 3 months, and majority quitting within the first year of starting their business.

A huge percentage (80% plus) are women, according to the Direct Selling Assocation. And how, even more sadly, these home based business opportunities are lost by people naturally suited to this profession of caring for and helping others to succeed.

What is needed, more than ever, is a standard educational approach and program to explain the basics of network marketing and neutralize common excuses.

Most sadly of all, are the kinds of common excuses or roadblocks that crop up.

COLOMA, Calif. — There's still gold in California's Sierra Nevada foothills, and a new rush is under way to find it. Not since the Great Depression have so many hard-luck people been lured by prospecting, hoping to find their fortune tumbling down a mountain stream. The recession and high gold prices are helping to fuel the latest gold craze, especially among workers who have lost jobs. There are hundreds there now standing knee-deep in an icy creek coaxing gold flakes from a swirling pan of gravel.

Miners who locate an unclaimed area can pay a $170 fee to the federal government for access to the public land. Most claims are along the 120 miles of steep granite outcrops and rushing riverbeds that are part of California's Mother Lode, a narrow band of gold-rich terrain.Many would-be gold panners are drawn to the South Fork of the American River, where the 1849 discovery of nuggets at Sutter's Mill launched the largest human migration in the Western Hemisphere. The Depression brought another wave of miners in the 1930s.

"It's hard to keep my equipment in stock," said Albert Fausel, the third-generation owner of the nearby Old Placerville Hardware store, which was founded to sell sluices, picks and pans to the original '49ers. Back then, the price of gold was $16 an ounce. Today it hovers around $1,000.

The store's wood floors used to creak under the weight of recreational rafters and fisherman. Now prospectors are some of the biggest shoppers."A lot of people are out of jobs and know where the gold holes are," Fausel said.

Between October 2007 and September 2008, the Bureau of Land Management in California issued gold miners 3,413 permits, or claims, to search for gold. That figure compared with 1,986 claims in 2006. So far this fiscal year, the agency has issued 1,444 claims.

Many miners believe that only 10 percent of the gold in the Sierra Nevada was discovered in the original gold rush. Now they attend classes about sandbars, cracks in bedrock and low-pressure eddies behind boulders are prime places to set up sluices, special channels designed to catch gold. Spring is the best time to hunt for gold as snow melt churns streams and rivers, potentially uncovering new riches.

They are also excited by the prospect of stumbling onto buried treasure.

"I was walking my dog once and went to pick up a rock and pulled a long nugget straight out of the sand," said one grizzled miner. "It was worth about $6,500 — and that was 13 years ago."

It is a common fact that the people who sold supplies to miners were the ones who stayed rich. One of the most notable examples was denim maker Levi Strauss.

So how can we apply this information to a home business based on network marketing principles?There are a few comparisons common to veteran networkers:

• you can compare building a successful multi-level home business to finding a gold mine that pays golden dividends…work hard to set up structure and function and then collect long term residual income…like royalties for life, in many cases.
• you can call prospecting the act of talking and sharing informaion with people who may also be interested in finding a “gold mine.” As with claims, some will be promising, some will be empty, some may take months or years of “digging”, a few can even be a brilliant success…and become millionaires. And some "nuggets" will lie undiscovered in your ownback yard because no one thought of looking there.
• you can call “tools of the trade” essential equipment to unearth treasures in the ground. You need hardware: shovels, picks, pans, boxes and physical labour powered by a dream. In network marketing, you share “intellectually” and use professional information tools to tell the story for you and help your prospects to open up new ways of thinking, planning, capitalizing and succeeding.

BLOG: Can you really find a Home Business in a Box or Hope in a Capsule or…

I came across a bold title that caught my attention immediately:
Gastric Surgery in a Bottle!
OK…so now I have a serious case of “cognitive dissonance” where pictures of reality just don’t fit within given frames.
Gastric surgery is pictured as an extreme open surgery, very expensive, recommended by a medical professional, surrounded by specialists, painful recuperative time and life-long severe diet restrictions. Can you visualize all that activity enclosed in a glass bottle
realistically. Of course, we know it is meant with imagination.

The gastric program consisted of swallowing one or two capsules 30 minutes before a meal with a lot of pre-measured water. Each tiny microbead inside the capsule absorbed the water and expanded 500 times in less than 2 minutes. This “stuff” filled the stomach at least 80% full which, of course, left little room for actual food and you ate less.
How does the body get rid of this “stuff”…apparently by safely flushing it out through the system. And soon, the slim body you always wanted is transformed in front of the mirror with minimal effort. Is anybody concerned about nutritional deficiencies?

Hope in a capsule? It is an imaginary picture that maybe works in advertisements full of happy people. But abstractions like hope or success must be based on real actions with tangible causes and effects. To reach any destination is a journey of a thousand steps. By managing the quality of individual steps, we can ultimately measure the quality of our journey’s destination. We realize our hopes and deserve our successes.

So is there such a thing as a “home business in a box?”….I’ve come across that heading also. Once again, any business, including home business, is a serious venture with multiple factors and daily permutations. Here is just a handful of step-by-step variables you need to manage: market research, inventory, production, personnel, accounts receivable and payable, customers, freight, technology, time commitments and the list goes on. Most importantly, is sales and marketing expertise to get your business into the competitive marketplace in order to make income and, potentially, profits. Can you visualize all this activity contained in a box in its own microcosm?

The good news is that home business factors have changed dramatically in our modern Information Economy. Technological advances have simplified and multiplied the process of “intellectual distribution” worldwide. Home business entrepreneurs can plug into huge successful companies and help to market their products to earn residual commissions. They can leverage their time and knowledge with information tools 24/7 and break the income cap set physically by a 40 hour week. However, most importantly, the key remains the expert marketing plan in order to attract customers and partners.
